Trick Or Treat!...But Stay 6 feet: In home activities to do with your little this Halloween!

Good Morning Families!

2020 has been spooky enough but with Halloween right around the corner, I'm sure many of your are scratching your heads at innovative ways to still make Halloween exciting for your littles. There's something very joyful about playing dress up and galavanting from door to door claiming your well deserved candy. This year is sure to look different but that doesn't mean this holiday still can't be fun! I've got a list of in home activities to do with your family and your littles that will be sure to keep things spectacular and spooky.

  1. Halloween Scavenger Hunt: Load up a plastic pumpkin pail with your little's favorite candy or treats and send them out on an indoor scavenger hunt. The pail full of candy will be waiting at the end after the last clue! You can make up your own OR I've attached a link to a free printable scavenger hunt that I thought sounded fun and still easy for your littles. https://pin.it/1l25ATw

  2. If you live in the suburbs, gather other kids in your neighborhood and have social distant trick or treating or a costume parade. The same could be done in an apartment building if there are other kids that live on the hall or other floors. Instead of having a big bowl full of candy, you could make up pre-packaged goodie bags of candy and have them sitting outside of each home along with hand sanitizer. This way your littles still get the feeling they are trick or treating, it's just with a more intimate circle.

  3. If you'd rather just keep the night very intimate and just with your family, have a halloween themed movie or game night. Buy your own candy or special treats and snuggle up on the couch or at the kitchen table. Here's a few wonderful, non-scary Halloween movies:

- Casper

- Charlotte's Web

- Coco

- Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest

- It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

- Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie

- Room On The Broom

- Stellaluna

  1. Have a zoom halloween party! Rally together with other parents or caretakers and gather your little's friends from school or daycare. Your littles can show off their costumes to their friends and all watch a movie together.

  2. Have a bonfire and roast marshmallows and carve pumpkins! If you live somewhere that has access to an outdoor fire pit, nothing feels more like fall than that. An indoor fireplace is also a fantastic and cozy option.

  3. Have a Halloween themed craft night!

  4. Have a baking night! This could be an alternative for candy. Bake sugar cookies and cut them out into fun Halloween shapes and decorate with icing and sprinkles in Halloween and fall colors.

  5. An easy option is having a spooky story night! Your little and you can dress up and read Halloween stories. Here's a great list:

- The Berenstain Bears: Trick or Treat

- Happy Halloween, Little Critter!

- Room on the Broom

- Clifford's First Halloween

- Corduroy's Best Halloween Ever!

- Happy Halloween! (Sesame Street Scribbles Elmo)

- Peppa Pig and the Halloween Costume

- Pete the Cat: Trick or Pete

- Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins

- Paw Patrol Halloween

- Happy Halloween, Daniel Tiger

- Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat!

We've had to do a lot of adapting this year and many of our holiday favorites have been cancelled, but that never means the fun has to stop! Have a fantastic rest of your week!

All Treats, No Tricks!

With Love
