Animal Themed Work Out For You and Your Little
I hope everyone is having a great start to their week! I don't know about you all but the restlessness ebbs and flows for me. Some days I am so thankful for the rest while other days I feel the need to move my body. I know it can be a challenge to find time for working out with your littles around. Today, I have a fun, easy, animal themed work out that will entertain your little while allowing you to break a sweat!
We'll do 7 different moves. 45 seconds each. 15 seconds of rest in between. Challenge yourself with all 7 or just do a few! Do whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable!
FROG JUMPS: Hop forward and then hop back like a frog. While your little hops front and back and lets out an occasional "ribbit", you can add more intensity with a frog squat jump. Point your toes out, start low in your squat, and then launch yourself into a jump. Did you know some frogs can jump over 20 times their own body length? That's high! How high can you go?
BEAR WALK: Place your hands and feet on the floor. Pike your hips high and then walk left and right. For more intensity, put your baby bear on your back. Did you know bears can walk short distances on their hind legs where it almost appears that they are "dancing"? Spend the last couple seconds dancing it out!
GORILLA SHUFFLE: Place your hands on the floor and sink your body down into a sumo squat and then begin to shuffle around the room from this position. Did you know gorillas have hands and feet just like humans? Some gorillas even learn sign language just like you all do with Me (Miss Logan), Miss Sophie, and Miss Hannah! Do you want to learn more moves? Can you do the sign for "more"?
STARFISH JUMPS: *One of my all time favorites* Spread your arms and legs as wide as you can and then perform quick jumping jacks. Burst your whole body like a STAR! Did you know Starfish don't have blood? Instead they have filtered sea water running through their bodies! You've been working hard...it's time you had some water...:)!
CHEETAH RUN: Run in place quick quick quick like a cheetah. Did you know cheetahs are the FASTEST land animal in the world? They can reach speeds up to 70 miles per hour! Wow! How fast can you run?
CRAB CRAWL: Sit on the floor and place your hands flat out behind you, directly behind your hips. Push your body upwards from the ground and begin to crawl. Did you know crabs communicate by waving their pincers? Can you pinch your fingers together like a crab claw?
ELEPHANT STOMPS: March in place like a big, strong elephant. Lift your knees as high as you can and stomp the ground as hard as you can. Did you know elephants munch on grass, plants, and fruit every day for 12 to 18 hours? YUM! Looks like you could use a snack after all that hard work...:)!
Who knew "working out" could spark imagination, encourage play, and be fun?!
